Revered for her collage style practice that juxtaposes black-and-white found photographs with combative captions, the artist’s work has been exhibited at the 1982 Venice Biennale (where she represented the U.S.), the Whitney Museum, and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. A recipient of the 2005 Venice Biennale Golden Lion lifetime achievement award, Kruger’s work has also been the subject of plagiarism. In 1994, the streetwear brand Supreme was accused of taking their famous logo from the artist’s trademark style which Supreme’s founder, James Jebbia admitted to not long after.
